9:00 AM A Linux for S/390 Primer - Part 1
Tired of people talking about Linux for S/390 and not understanding what they are talking about? Or are you interested in understanding where Linux for S/390 is coming from and what it has to offer? In either case, you will not want to miss this presentation. The speaker will lead you through the Linux for S/390 story and demonstrate where it may be of value to you and your organization. He will also give an update on the current status of the platform, as well as what various Linux distributors are offering in terms of software and support.
The speaker will be Mr. Mark Post of EDS.

The speaker will provide installation, configuration, and usage information for Linux for S/390 and some popular open source and commercial software packages. Networking options and features will also be discussed. Included in this discussion will be SuSE Linux, useful Linux utilities, BIND(a DNS server), Apache, Big Brother (a network monitor), Sendmail, Samba, DB2 UDB, DB2/Connect, and WEBSphere Application Server.
The speaker will be Mr. Rich Smrcina of Sytek Services, Inc.

3:00 PM CM_Safe - Server Configuration Management and Change Control
The speaker will present an overview of the new GMx Solutions product, CM_Safe. CM_Safe runs in the z/VM environment and provides Configuration Management, Change Control, and Disaster Recovery facilities, for a variety of Linux, UNIX, and other server platforms. The speaker will also address in technical detail some of the problems encountered in developing the product and how they were handled.
The speaker will be a representative from GMx Solutions.

Members will attempt to answer any reasonable VM or hardware related questions. If you are having a problem and want to find out if others are experiencing it, or you are installing new hardware or software and want to find out what types of problems others have experienced, here is the place to find out.
Members are encouraged to bring ideas for future presentations and speakers to this meeting.
